Shield – GM (97611088)

This is a shield from GM, factory part number 97611088. It is catalogued under Covers & Caps > Shields & Guards.

• Covers that seal a fluid opening normally carry a single-use gasket or O-ring, and reusing the old one is the usual reason a leak comes back.
• On panel and plate parts, check whether the original is held by clips, screws or both. The fasteners are often sold separately and are often what actually broke.
• A cap that vents and a cap that does not are visually similar, and swapping them gives a fault code or a pressure leak rather than a fit problem.

Corrosion at a mounting face is worth cleaning back before fitting anything new, because a part that sits on scale will work loose. Colour-matched and textured covers are rarely interchangeable with a plain black service part, even where the moulding is identical.

Match this against the part you are taking off rather than against a photo. If the number is unreadable, send us the VIN and we will confirm it. Dispatched from our US warehouse within one to two business days, with free shipping over $59.
