Insert – GM (85554040)

The insert here is the GM part, numbered 85554040. It is catalogued under Accessories & Mounts > Inserts & Elements.

• The photographs on a listing show the actual stock item, so compare the mounting points and the connector or fitting rather than the overall shape.
• Where the vehicle is close to a model-year change, the VIN is a more reliable guide than the registration date.
• Insert and accessory parts are usually trim-level specific, and the same console takes a different insert depending on whether the vehicle has a floor shifter, a column shifter or a storage bin.

Fitment lists are a guide rather than a guarantee, because the same model year can carry different parts depending on the production break and the option code.

The part number is the thing to verify. Where the old part carries no legible number, a VIN and a photograph are enough for us to identify it. Leaves our US warehouse in one to two business days, and shipping is free over $59.
