F Cable – GM (84836382)

GM lists this f cable under number 84836382. It is catalogued under Cables & Linkage > Cables.

• Release and shift cables are directional. Fitted the wrong way round they usually still operate, but bind or fail early.
• A cable that already feels stiff before fitting usually has a kinked conduit from storage, and forcing it will make the bind worse once installed.
• Where a cable operates a latch, the latch itself is often the real fault, so check that it moves freely before blaming the cable.

A part that fails early usually points at an installation fault or a worn component nearby rather than at the part itself. Cables routed near exhaust or moving suspension parts need their original clips, because a cable left to hang will chafe through its conduit within a season.
