Cable – GM (88860121)

Factory part number 88860121: a cable supplied by GM. It is catalogued under Cables & Linkage > Cables.

• A cable even a few millimetres short will not reach its bracket regardless of routing, so overall length is worth confirming before ordering.
• Adjustable rods and links are set to a reference length at the factory, and matching that length before fitting saves a lot of trial and error.
• Release and shift cables are directional. Fitted the wrong way round they usually still operate, but bind or fail early.

Cable fitment turns on the end fittings at each end, the conduit length, and whether the assembly includes the retaining clips and boots. Linkage rods with threaded ends are adjusted for length, so thread engagement at each end matters as much as the overall dimension.
